A member asked:

Could a cadaver bone phalanx / interphalangeal joint transplant be done without the body rejecting them and is it possible this is not costly as an artificial bone/joint implant or is the artificial implants a better option?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Transplant is done with the mind of possible rejection so people would be put on medication to prevent rejection, you would not wait for rejection to happen after so much effort at transplant. There is possibility of rejection regardless of using antirejection medication and it is variable based on how well matched the donor. The artificial implants has its own problems, discuss with your provider
