Discuss treatment options with your physician. There are many therapies available to treat and to prevent migraine headaches. Specific foods such as aged cheese may worsen or trigger a migraine headache. Rest in a dark room, drink water and avoid loud noises and bright lights. If the headache is moderate to severe, please see urgent care or the emergency room.

Believe that a visit to an experienced neurologist would be helpful, as it may be best to start a prophylactic anti-migraine OTC or prescription medication. Olfactory auras are uncommon in migraine, as ocular are more frequent, but nonetheless, this might be an appropriate signal to use an abortive agent. Plan a complete program with your doctor.

If it is indeed related to your migraine, it's part of your migraine aura. It's called an olfactory hallucination. These are due to activation of the temporal lobe. They are very common in epilepsy. They also occur in migraines, but much less commonly.
