Needs evaluation: Bleeding in the first trimester can be caused by various reasons. Fifty percent of the time the pregnancy continues without incident. The other half of the time bleeding may be associated with abnormal pregnancy such as miscarriage or tubal pregnancy. Blood tests and ultrasound should be able to sort this out. See your health care provider.
