A member asked:

I tested positive for a serology lyme elisa so my blood was sent to a specialised lab where it tested negative on a c6 lyme elisa and therefore wasn't sent for a western blot. is the c6 elisa more or less accurate? does this mean lyme or not? thanks?

Dr. Jay Park answered

No Lyme disease. Diagnosis of Lyme requires initial screening test (ELISA or IFA) followed by a confirmatory test either by Western immunoblot or C6 ELISA (2-tier testing). Substitution of the C6 ELISA for immunoblot testing results in no less specificity.
