What can be done to get a person to urinate again after catheter removal? my son had his removed for eight hours and did not pee on his own, so a catheter had to be reinserted?

I am not sure you still need help with your question but if you/your son still have the catheter, it should be taken out and allow the urinary bladder to take control over 24 hours and he will start urinating on his own. It all depends on the cause of retention. If the cause of retention is not addressed then retention will occur after catheter removal.
