What can be done to get a person to urinate again after catheter removal? my son had his removed for eight hours and did not pee on his own, so a catheter had to be reinserted?

I am not sure you still need help with your question but if you/your son still have the catheter, it should be taken out and allow the urinary bladder to take control over 24 hours and he will start urinating on his own. There is no good medicine for this probelm...so we have to figure out the cause and remove it. Certain medications can cause this problem so keep him off any drugs for the time/be

It all depends on the cause of retention. If the cause of retention is not addressed then retention will occur after catheter removal.
