ILD’s consist of a spectrum of lung conditions with different progression rates. While the typical prognosis seems to be few years, there are many other predictors that have to be factored in formulating an individual prognosis. There are definitely mild forms in which patients survive decades, pulmonary infections are usually life terminating and remain unpredictable.
