In traumatic or nontraumatic compartment syndrome, there will be more symptoms and signs in the thigh than just a simple thigh pain with moving the toes. If the thigh seems normal (no swelling, no skin change and no local tenderness), but there is pain with moving the toes, nerve pain (neuralgia) is suspected.
