Trichomonas can certainly be present but inactive ("dormant") in women that long. Uncertain in men -- no research has documented such prolonged carriage in men, but it probably happens. He definitely needs treatment for trichomonas and both of you also need to be tested for other STDs (gonorrhea, chlamydia -- and also for HIV and syphilis, to be maximally safe). Good luck.
