Not as effective: Follow your doctor's advice. Bacterial vaginosis needs treatment for a week; single dose is not effective. Even for trichomonas, a full week is best. A single 2 g dose of metronidazole usually is prescribed, but fails to cure 10% of cases. You should also have been tested for other STDs like gonorrhea and chlamydia, which occur with high frequency in women with BV or trich. Good luck!
