A member asked:

Whats the likelihood of infecting your own genital area with herpes from your own saliva/cold sore? the saliva was in tissues that had direct contact with an open cold sore and were used right away to wipe the genitalia?

If you have had oral herpes a long time (more than a new months), you needn't worry. People are immune to new infections with the HSV type they already have, and therefore almost transfer their longstanding infections to new body areas. People with oral herpes never infect their own genitals. Nothing to worry about!
