I had an early miscarriage 4 years ago, i never even knew i was pregnant. but what i thought was my period was actually me miscarrying. i never went to my obgyn to get any tests done. 4 years later, is it even worth going? what can they do now?

If you have had no problems since this miscarriage, then no special testing is required or useful. This sort of very early miscarriage happens much more often than most realize, and complications will become apparent relatively early.
