Have had chronic hemorrhoids for 8 years since pregnancy.. gi doctor said internal felt like a bag of grapes. they bleed bright red on and off and hurt with larger stool and constipation. also itch later on. what should i do? 38 yrs old?

Hemorrhoid surgery is usually not a "first choice" in addressing this problem, as "the cure may be worse than the disease" in terms of pain and slow return to normal. Probiotics, increased fiber and dietary changes may significantly reduce symptoms, but get a referral to a colorectal surgery for guidance.
