A member asked:

I know the best advice for a friction blister is to just leave it be. i have one on my heal and its quite large. its preventing me from walking properly. is it safe to pop it with a sterile pin with alcohol? id then cover and bandage it. thoughts?

There are over the counter bandages made specifically for blisters that are not popped. They are made of hydrocolloid and has antibacterial properties. You put it on the blister and it provides a cushion where there is friction. The skin of the blister is essentially dead and the bandage provides an environment for it to heal and less chances for scarring
