I have seen patients struggle with this for years. Determining some potential aggravating factors and how to return to normal would require that you post more information about your medical history, diet, attempts to treat, etc. You are welcome to start over with more information and a site doc may be able to assist you.

For constipation - You may take a fiber laxative like Metamucil and drink enough water daily so that your urine is colorless. For the long term you may try to increase your intake of fiber foods. Consult this site for fiber foods. http://www.mayoclinic.org/healthy-lifestyle/nutrition-and-healthy-eating/in-depth/high-fiber-foods/art-20050948 Wish you good health!

Some people have bowel movements three times a day, others three times a week. After three days, a blockage could be developing and is dangerous. Four days is too long and you should seek a gastroenterologist. You could try to use OTC medications, but if no immediate relief, see the doctor.
