Ive been doing my workouts for a while now and im noticing im not engaging my core anymore. ive been noticing ive been using my neck muscles when im supposed to be using my core. how do i engage my core and why did i start using other muscles?

Well first of all, how do you know your core is it engaged? It is impossible to move the body through space with the neck muscles alone. Just because you feel tension in your neck during a lift, this does not mean that you are doing something wrong. Just focus on doing the exercises with proper form and you will see benefits over time.
