Doctor can evaluate: A doctor at the E.R. Can evaluate to see if there is a neck injury, which can be quite dangerous (a risk of spinal cord injury). In general, possible spine injury victims should be transported by ambulance on a backboard, wearing a special neck collar. Afterwards, if only a minor sprain or strain, the physiatrist or orthopedic doctor can examine and refer one to physical therapy for help.
