A member asked:

How to know if your breast pain is cancerous without having x ray?

You go to your doc with your concerns and have them decide if any testing is warranted. You exclude cancer by doing a formal evaluation which may include a mammogram and biopsy.

An X-ray would probably not be helpful at your age. Pain is very, very rarely a symptom of breast cancer, and then it would be persistent and likely associated with a lump. Breast tenderness is common premenstrually and in early pregnancy. Breast cysts and fibrocystic breast disease are often painful but are benign conditions. Consult your doctor if you continue to have concerns or questions.
