Most people do not have gut problem during or after one week of antibiotic. But some may experience soft or loose stool, but not apparently diarrheal stool, especially with augmentin. Your bowel movement should normalize after 2-3 days off antibiotic.

Studies have shown that it may take weeks for the gut microbiome to fully recover to preantibiotic levels after a course of antibiotics. Some studies have also shown permanent changes in the microbiome after broad spectrum antibiotics. Probiotic effects are indeterminate. The best policy is to feed your gut fiber, fruits, nuts, veggies, whole grains.
