My sons mri results say non-enhancing punctate focus in the left lateral thalamus. the pediatrician said not to be worried but i am. what does that mean? should i be worried?

The MRI reveals a focus which has likely been present for years. Not clear why you are worried, but would discuss anatomical significance with the radiologist who read the films. If this does not assuage your concerns, perhaps a visit to a pediatric neurologist would assist.

The reason for the MRI is not specified. if your son has an injury or symptoms, including nausea, vomiting and headache, a Neurologist may be consulted. A punctate area is very small. More details would be helpful, please follow up.
