35 year old son experiencing heartburn, is it safe to pick up some otc prilosec and take it for 14 days without a doctor advising you to take it? is it a well tolerated drug? are there many common side effects? need advice?

I learned that a Dr who took care of himself had a fool for a Dr. Same applies to non-doctors in general. I would go to Drugs.com and read all about Prilosec and heart burn and any other meds he may be taking. Read about elevating head of bed for GERD. Gravity never sleeps.
