A member asked:

My recent mri of my pituitary does not state that the mass is invading my sinus cavity but it does say mass effect and mild chronic changes of the ethmoid air cells and frontal sinus. does that suggest its invading?

The pituitary is behind the eyeballs/the ethmoid air cells primarily beneath and forward of the eyes as part of the nasal structure. The frontal sinuses ate above the eyes in your forehead. Chronic changes in these air cells suggest allergy or recurrent sinus infection, not tumor invasion. Please verify all this with the doc who ordered or interpreted the study.

Your pituitary "mass" effect would not have any influence or pressure on your sinuses (and the report is consistent with prior sinusitis.) However, the pituitary can compress the optic chiasm, resulting in visual loss, and the risk will dictate future management.
