Hypothyroidism is diagnosed when the TSH is low and Free T4 is high. Unfortunately, every lab is different, so the lab values need to be correlated with the lab's normal reference range. Weight loss is dependent on current weight, BMI, and goals. Aside from getting adequate nutrition, a first step is to weight yourself each day, and track your weight and caloric intake.
