Wife has had palatoglossal arch redness and intermittent pain and discomfort for a couple days. very paranoid about covid etc. no fever. still has tonsils but redness seems to be only on thin edges of both sides. thoughts? thank you?

Mild sore throat could be due to allergies, vocal overuse, many other viruses, even strep throat (but less likely with your description). If highly concerned about Covid, get tested and then wear a mask when around other people, wash hands frequently and thoroughly, avoid crowds, and stay up to date on vaccinations. New vaccines with broader coverage are coming, too.
