Post-tonsillectomy: It wouldn't be unusual to have pain in the faucial pillars post-surgery for many months. The area takes about 8-12 weeks to scar and contract, so it's not unusual to have some twinges of pain with opening mouth, chewing, etc. The papillae being bigger and sweet taste do not clearly corollate with the procedure. You should go see surgeon and discuss these issues and get examined.

See an ENT: The best thing you can do is have your ENT to examine your palatoglossal tonsil pillars and arch and make sure all is well. Take care.
