A member asked:

A friend in 70s says that her hsv2 sore is not healing and continuing to stay as a sore for more than 3 months. she thinks that is happening because she my be becoming immunocompromised? is that possible assuming she is immunocompromised?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

It is imperative that she see a doctor to ascertain the actual nature of the sore. A non-healing ulcer warrants exclusion of a tumor. Changes in her immune status notwithstanding, she may need to have the lesion removed and have the tissue examined by a pathologist.
