Home pregnancy tests detect hormones created by the fetal/placental mass of cells. These are usually present by the time a period is delayed or 2-3 weeks after sex. When these teats are wrong, it is most likely when falsely negative. Positive tests are rarely wrong.

If you had sex since your last period, missed your period and home pregnancy test is positive, you are pregnant. For the sake of your and your baby's health you should see a doctor.
