It looks like your doctor does not see need for anything other than OTC meds however you could do other things to shorten the course of the acute bronchitis if you know what could be the cause. I mean there is no fixed number of days if you know what to do like removing or mitigating factors like smoking, fumes or dust or whatever else that may be causing the inflammation.

If you have a persistent cough for more than three weeks, persistent fever or malaise, please see your PCP Watch for signs of shortness of breath and consider COVID 19 testing.
