Husband went doctor and er 3 times in the past 3 months diagnosed bronchitis. his symptoms are now at night but he coughs up a lot of mucus and feels like he can't breath sometimes until he uses inhaler they gave him and has a wheeze? what is this?

Post viral : He may have pneumonia, bronchitis or post viral inflammation related to his symptoms. The relief from his inhaler is consistent with bronchospasm. The mucus may be sent for culture and testing to determine if there is an infection ongoing. Fluids, rest and monitor for fever. Bronchospasm related to a viral illness may last weeks and often requires a controller medication, das an inhaled steroid
