A member asked:

My mom (71) went to her dr's appointment today and her bp was 108/51, she takes bp meds for long time now but she's a little worried about those numbers, she feel fine, only scared. is this ok? should she keep taking the med today?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

She needs to follow the advice of the doc treating her. Your blood pressure only needs to be high enough to push the blood through your organs at a level you can maintain the activities (and thinking) of daily life. This may be perfect for her, or the doc might reduce dosing some, but only based on an understanding of the complete picture. We treat patients not numbers.
