A member asked:

Is there a reason drug users are more likely to get hep c than doctors or nurses? ive read that needle-stick related accidents hep c is low risk (1.8 in 100) among nurses but drug users have a much higher chance? is there a difference in the needles?

The likely difference is needle use behavior. Docs/nurses are aware of and respect single use practice. Drug users often share needles and use them multiple times.

Drug users often share needles with other drug users and the practice is conducive to spread blood bone pathogens like HIV, Hep B, Hep C.
