Did your dentist actually examine you before saying it wasn’t thrush? I would go to a medical doctor and discuss your case. If there is suspicion, a scraping can be performed to confirm yeast. Other medications can be considered as nystatin is not 100% effective. Pathologists do not see patients, they just work in labs.

1. It may longer than 2 weeks for Nystatin to be fully effective. 2) Any Dentist or Physician, at the time of your actual oral examination, may take a sample to submit for lab testing. This would confirm presence of the fungus that causes Thrush. 3) Diagnosis and treatment of Thrush fall right into wheelhouse of Oral Pathologist.
