The materials used in todays tampons differs from those during the era when Toxic Shock was a surprising but rare complication of their use. I would spend your day monitoring your health and contact your doc if you develop a rapid heart rate/fever/ lethargy or similar problems. Be aware but don't obsess over it. I think you should be fine.

Leaving a tampon in for more than 8-12 hours can cause TSS. If you develop a rash or fatigue, or low blood pressure than see your doctor. Most women use a small tampon and change it during the night, always be aware of what toxic shock syndrome[TSS] is/
