I am 30 weeks pregnant and my hemoglobin is 10.3. i can not take oral iron would a transfusion be needed at this point due to symptoms such as fast heart rate, feeling breathless, and exhaustion? i am delivering by csection in 5 weeks?

This is best determined by the doc who follows your case and knows all factors involved. Transfusion is not an automatic at this level as long as the OBGYN is comfortable. Transfusions are not without some risk to you and baby so this is factored into any decision. There is other ways the docs can give iron if they decide that is appropriate.

Agree with Dr. Ferguson. While a Hb or 10.3 is low, it is not low enough to warrant transfusion. Talk to your doctor about intravenous infusion of iron. Wish you good health and a healthy baby!
