Not generally.: This would generally be considered chronic sleep deprivation. However, some people have a lesser requirement for sleep and seem to do well. Best judge is you. If you have daytime sleepiness you should get more sleep at night.

Typically no: You should strive for 7-8 hours of sleep per night. Some people rarely can go with 4-5 hours of sleep per night and have no problems, but typically shortened and even prolonged sleep is associated with health complications long term that cam affect the heart and brain.
