A sustainable recipe for consistently soft stools is to increase your fiber intake (fresh fruits, vegetables, nuts, whole grains), increase your water intake (2-2.5liters daily) and exercise daily. Avoid fatty cheeses, meats, and processed foods. For the occasional constipation, use a bit of miralax in copious amounts of water as this will soften stools. Miralax should not be used regularly.
