I get random swelling like 2" strings of swelling across the back of my neck and a 2" diameter lump on my shoulder and sometimes on my feet. it's in different areas each time and happens maybe once or twice a month. what would cause this?

I think you're experiencing dermatographism and angioedema. Both are relatives of hives. The cause is often elusive. Triggers could be allergy to something internal or external. Can you think of any triggers? Try taking antihistamines. I recommend consulting an allergist for investigation and treatment.
