A member asked:

I take 10mg of amitriptyline nightly. i was just prescribed a zpak - azithromycin for a sinus infection. is amitriptyline and azithromycin safe to combine?

There is a very small risk of EKG changes and arrhythmias. Assuming you have no underlying heart problem (unlikely at your age) then you should be OK with this. Your dose of amitriptyline is very low and you will not be taking the azithromycin very long. If you need to take antibiotics for a much longer period then azithromycin might not be your best choice, at least not without a baseline EKG.
