I have covid and i have painful swallowing and some white spots (maybe pus?) on the edge and slightly behind my inflamed palatopharyngeal arch. is this normal for covid or could this be a secondary bacterial infection?

Exudative pharyngitis is an immune response and can occur from both viruses and bacteria (usually strep). Since strep needs to be treated we usually do a strep test, but a rule of thumb says if no other viral symptoms (i.e. stuffy nose), assume strep. 2ndary infection usually has fever spike, increased pain, & an abscess that causes asymmetrical swelling days later and needs medical attention ASAP
