Hello i'm almost 12 weeks and my doctor has me do a 24 hour urine sample. i have high blood pressure and i'm 26. it's well controlled and i'm on a beta blocker (116/72) todays reading. the urine was 289mg, is this cause for worry? what's it mean?

It is not clear if this was ordered because of a specific concern or simply as a baseline reference. You would need to clarify this with your doctor. A protein of 289 mg is only slightly elevated and probably does not indicate a need for further evaluation at this time.

This amount of urine protein is close to the abnormal amount for 24 hours (300). This proteinuria and presence of hypertension in pregnancy bears close watching for preeclampsia which generally doesn't appear before 20 weeks. I recommend having a nephrologist follow you for the remainder of your pregnancy.
