Nasal discharge with green color, also called purulent nasal discharge, is due to high numbers of white cells in that discharge, either with a viral or superimposed bacterial infection of the nasal passage.

Discolored mucus starts as a yellow color from lots of white blood cells, but as more& more collect along with other debris the color turns green.
