This depends on the cause of the arthritis, severity of pain, and related issues. Commonly used medications are acetaminophen (Tylenol® and other brands), and ibuprofen (Advil® and others) another similar drugs. Severe pain sometimes requires opioids. Injection of corticosteroid into a painful joint sometimes is used. All of which means you need to discuss this with your doctor(s). Good luck.

Over the counter medications such as Tylenol and Ibuprofen are commonly used to treat arthtritis. If these medications are not working, you should speak to your physician about alternative medications or injections with either corticosteroids or hyalurnic acid based products for your knees.
