Constipation may have minimal benefit from increasing fluids, but this is almost never the cause of constipation. In general, drinking water whenever you’re thirsty is plenty, though there are several exceptions to this rule of thumb (e.g. renal failure, electrolyte abnormalities, and prior to donating plasma or prior to prolonged heat exposure — to name a few).

Drinking water is one part of treating constipation. Requirements of water depend on many things like activity and weather etc.. Water does not cause constipation
