A member asked:

My daughter's been sleeping well, getting to bed at a good time, without snoring or waking up in the middle of the night. however, she has such a hard time getting up, that it's caused her to miss school and be tired the whole day. why could that be?

The age related required duration of sleep is more at that age so she may want to get to be earlier than now. Is there allergy in the family? If there is you should launder her beddings more frequently because allergy may also make her feel more tired than normal.

A regular bedtime and wake time are recommended. Avoid electronic devices, drinking fluids two hours or less prior to bedtime. A bedtime routine may include a shower/bath, relaxation time prior to bedtime. Set an alarm and provide an activity before school that she may like e.g. taking a walk, a favorite breakfast item. If the fatigue continues, discuss whether further testing is indicated/Peds.
