A member asked:

I have had a lump under my jaw for about 2 and a half years, my gp can't see anything sinister, recently my jaw became locked for around a minute, help?

See an ENT: You may need to see an ear, nose and throat specialist (ent). The specialist cn do testing and also make sure it is just a jaw problem.

Lump under jaw: While gp is a good place to start, a more experienced head/neck/oral maxillofacial surgeon should evaluate such things. A good clinical exam, possibly anatomic study like ct or mri, and a possible biopsy is the only way to determine how "sinister" something really is. The jaw, even without the lump issue, may become locked due to TMJ disk problems, likely unrelated to the lump.
