My mother is 37 years old and she just recently discovered a lump on the lower left side of her head. it's very hard, almost like bone. what is it?

Not sure: I am not sure exactly what it is but an xray or ct scan or MRI would give an answer very quickly. I would see your doc and let them touch and feel it and examine it and her head/neck. Did she hit her head anywhere? Any other trauma in thet area from before (surgery in hthe past, etc).
