Hi, my cousin he can't stand up from seated position and has stiff shoulder/ legs. i have been told he should see a rheumatologist. he lives abroad where he will struggle to find the right doctor for his condition any advice will be much appreciated?

He could benefit from seeing any general physician to start. Much of the evaluation and initial treatment of such issues can be completed before any specialist becomes involved. When and if a specialist needs to be called in the general doc would know how to find one in that location.

Possible arthritis and or bone loss in knees and or hips. An injection of synovial fluid may help, but a series of x-rays of knees, hips and shoulder by an orthopedic specialist would determine whether surgery or therapy would be best course of treatment.
