I bruised my calf 10 days ago. i'm mostly pain free now but there is mild pain when i stretch or flex the muscle and minor discomfort when i run. is it okay if i start playing soccer again?

Check out your ability to run by going for a jog. If it does not cause discomfort or pain you may resume soccer.

You need to slowly start stretching the muscle. The muscle was injured and has tightened to protect itself. Slowly start to stretch the calf with the knee locked straight.
