Airborne allergens is a known trigger to some asthma sufferers. It is often seasonal, symptoms increasing when certain pollens are in the environment. Trying to consider them as separate issues is not productive. Treat both to whatever level you need to function well and avoid night cough which diminishes your quality of life/productiveness.
