Diet with low-calorie foods is recommended for metabolic syndrome , i.e. low carbohydrate and low lipid (fat, especially saturated fat) diet. Calories from carbohydrate and lipid are called non protein calories and the main objective of this diet is losing fatty weight. Overweight and obesity are risk factors for hypertension and insulin resistance, 2 components of metabolic syndrome.
