Sodium polystyrene sulfonate is a medication given to people who have too much Potassium in their blood. It does not enter the bloodstream, but travels through the intestines binding to excess potassium. It has not been found to cause any kind of cancer and is not the same as styrene. Adverse effects in older adults have been seen in the intestines such as ischemia, thrombosis, ulceration.

It has styrene in it. Why are you taking it ? No chemical can cause cancer unless taken for a long period of time. Pl do not take anything unless prescribed by an MD and then ask her/him for the reason, duration and side effects. Good luck
